Dr. Gerlach is a trusted and experienced spine surgeon with expertise in all aspects of spine surgery. He completed a fellowship in spine surgery where he obtained extensive orthopedic and neurosurgical training in both minimally invasive and traditional surgical techniques.
He specializes in the treatment of spinal deformity, degenerative, and traumatic conditions affecting the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine in adult and adolescent patients.
Dr. Gerlach commonly treats patients with sciatica, stenosis, herniated discs, scoliosis, spondylolisthesis, degenerative disc disease, and spinal fractures.
All spine surgeries require the use of intraoperative image guidance; especially those performed using a minimally invasive approach and those requiring placement of spinal implants. Historically, 2D fluoroscopy (X-ray) was utilized in these procedures. Over the past decade, there have been significant advancements in this area.
Dr. Gerlach utilizes state-of-the-art technology, for example, the O-arm 3D intraoperative imaging device, computer-aided navigation, intraoperative neuromonitoring, and motion-preserving procedures, such as cervical disc replacement.
